in every society has some belief system of the after death. After death ancestor worship the worship of deceased relatives
and ancestors, as if they were deities. The Chinese culture perform ancestor worship by leaving food, drinks and money for
the deceased in the belief that the offerings will encourage the dead to bring luck to the village and ward off evil.
Angel;
Angel
comes from the Greek angelos, which means messenger. An angel is a supernatural being who mediates between God and man. A
group of angels that fell from God’s graces are known as demons.

who saved the French and British soldiers from death during the battle of the Mon, Belgium in World War I.

During an out of body experience, the energy body that a person

belief that the soul has a huge road to travel to the Land of the Dead. A few days after death, the soul beings it’s
journey to the afterlife. The journey may take up to a year to complete. The feasts are to celebrate this journey, but to
help the soul along. The soul requires nourishment on the journey; therefore, the soul depends on surviving members of the
family for the food.
Flying Dutchman;
Flying
Dutchman is a phantom ship known for punishing sailors for sins or evil. In a German version of the story, a captain known
as von Falkenberg played a game of dice with the devil. If the captain lost, the devil wins his soul. The captain lost the
game and his soul became one of the condemned phantoms of the sea.

A
ghost is a dead soul that has no idea that he or she is dead. See the article on the ‘Difference between Ghosts and

Ghost Dance;
The
Ghost Dance was a Native American dance that was preformed to the opposition of the white civilization. The dance was preformed
in a circle. During the dance, the dances had visions of the dead and a new world to come. The visions were a new world that
was a paradise and the Indian would have eternal life free of suffering and the white civilization.
Ghost Investigations;
Ghost
Investigation is the scientific techniques employed to study a haunting. Ghost investigators use technical equipment and sensitives
to explore the paranormal realm. An investigation can take days to complete. Some of the equipment used is the following:
electromagnetic field meters, night vision scopes, cameras, video recorders, voice recorders. Senitives like psychic clairvoyant
and mediums. The groups of investigators use the two elements to detect if there is a haunting at the location or if the phenomenon
is occurring or if the haunting is psycho kinesis. Many times, the haunting can be explained by naturally conditions such
as geological or electromagnetic conditions.

lights are luminous balls or irregular patches of light that have been reported around the world. The reports have been studied
and defy a natural explanation. Ghost lights appear randomly at particular sites. Ghost lights can be white, yellow, red orange
or blue. The light can change color and appear active for years. The characteristics of a ghost light are, thee light appear
in remote areas, the lights are elusive and can be viewed by certain angles or distances, the lights react to noise and light,
the lights are accompanied by humming, buzzing or out break of gaseous materials,
the lights are a haunting due to a tragedy or terrible accident.

ghost lantern is a light that a spirit carries while looking for something that the dead person lost at time of death. Example,
if in an accident a person loses his or her head, the spirit returns to the site that death took place looking for the head
with a beam of light or ghost lantern.

is believed that a person who is born at a certain time of day possess the clairvoyant power to see the dead. In England, children born at twilight
are believed to be able to predict their acquaintances death.

are said to be creatures that inhabit graveyards, ruins and other lonely places. Ghouls are thought to eat the flesh of children
or they dig up graves and eat the corpse. In Islamic folklore, the ghoul that is feared the most is a woman that has the ability
to appear as a flesh and blood female. These ghouls marry men who become their prey. In classic mythology, ghouls or lamia
can be compared to terror demons. Lamia feed off the flesh of the young.
Goblin;
A
goblin is a small and hideous and evil spirit.
Grey Ladies;
Grey
ladies are women who have died a violent death for the sake of love or loss of love. The famous picture of the Brown lady
is also known as the Grey Lady because the lady can be dressed in white, black or brown. The gray lady haunts for the intense
desire to be reunited with a love one.
Gremlin;
A
gremlin first appeared during World War I by the Royal Force pilots. Gremlins have great knowledge of technology. Gremlin
like voices have been recorded a documented speaking to pilots delivering instructions to turn, land, or change course.
The first public
knowledge occurred in 1922.
Guardian Spirit;
This
spirit is a personal protective spirit. The guardian spirit role is keep its’ protector safe.
Haunting;
A
haunting is as sensory phenomena. The haunting is smelled or heard. Most hauntings involve noise or smells. Noises can be
footsteps, rustlings, thumps, tapping or a breeze or cold spots. The smells can be perfume, cigar smoke, howling burning wood
or flesh. Some hauntings are poltergeist activity such as smashing glasses, moving objects, and rearranging future. Some haunting
feature a cat, horse, dog or other animal.

home circle is also known as home sitting. A home circle is a séance held in a home, which out the help of a professional
medium. The purpose of the home circle is to contract the dead.

Incubus is a demon masquerading as a flesh and blood man. An incubus molesting women or impregnate women has known to happen.
In modern time, an incubus rapped a woman repeating. The movie’ “Enitiy” is the true and documented story
of this woman’s nightmare.

form of communication is the use of electronic equipment to receive messages from the dead. E.V.P or electronic Voice Phenomenon
is the most common. E.V.P is taken with a type recorder. A voice box is currently being used to contract the dead. A voice
box uses radio waves to catch responses to questions that the researcher asks the spirit.

Knocker
is a spirit that lives and works in mines. Knockers are friendly. Knockers received their name because of the knocking sounds
they make in mineshafts. In American mines, Tommy knockers behavior is said to be malicious. In Colorado mines, the Tommy knockers are
said to be friendly, protective and helpful. Miners regard their supernatural companions with fondness. At the end of the
day, miners reserve spaces for the knocker at the bar.

act of levitation is described by the uplifting up of objects, animals and humans that defiance gravity. Levitations happen
during meduimship, shamanistic trances, witchcraft haunting and human possession.

manifestations of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The phenomena is accompanied by heavenly music, singing, miraculous healing. The
message given by the Virgin Mary is to pray more and live a devout life.

is the act forming solid spirit forms.

are the connectors to the communication between the living and the dead. Medium have been known as oracle, soothsayer, wizard,
fortune-teller, witch, sorcerer, shaman, mystic, prophet or channeler.
Mirrors;
Many
superstitions of mirrors exist. In primitive cultures, mirrors reflect the soul; therefore, mirrors are guarded against because
the soul could be lost in the mirror. Throughout Europe, mirrors must be covered in the house after death. The
belief is that the covering of the mirrors protect the living from the soul that just died from taking the living soul to
the afterlife. Also, mirrors are covered for the reason that one will see a corpse looking over one’s shoulder and will
be frightened. Mirrors are covered for respect of the dead. Mirrors should be removed from a sick room, because it is believed
that the soul is very vulnerable in times of illness. Also, the concept of a sick person seeing his or her reflection in the
mirror put the person in risk of dying. Breaking a mirror is seven years of bad luck and a death in the family will occur,.
If a child breaks a mirror death will occur in the household a year to the date.
Moving Coffins;
The
mysterious movement of coffins inside sealed crypts have been recorded in cases a round the world. Heavy coffins are found
tossed around by a great force .No natural explanation have ever been made for
their movement. Researchers think that the movement is do to restless spirit, especially if the corpse was a suicide victim.
Near-Death Experience;
Dr.
Raymond Moody is an American doctor who listened to his patients talk about the phenomena. The near death experience is described
by one feeling of a out of body experience. The person having the experience is floating above his or her body watching the
doctor and nurses below working on the person. Some people have reported that they are traveling down a tunnel toward a light
and a feeling of Utopia. Some individuals have a high realm of conscience. Other people see dead relatives waiting for them
in a shining light. Few people admit the experience as being unpleasant. Some people have told the experience that he or she
visited hell.
Necromacy:
The
act of conjuring up the dead for magical purposes or the telling of the future. Necromacy is very dangerous. The practice
has been universal and ancient. It is thought that the conjuring will fore tell the future, cast spells to bind others and
find treasure. Some necromantic rituals are intended to command the dead to attack the living.
If a corpse has
recently died, the necromancer may try to force the soul back to the body to reanimate it to talk. If the corpse has been
dead a long period of time, the necromancer will try to summon an apparition of the soul. When the act is over the corpse
will be burned or buried in quicklime to prevent trouble from disturbing a spirit.
There is a famous
story of the ritual is the Witch of Endor. This story comes from the Bible. The witch was hired by King Saul to bring back
a dead prophet named Samuel. The spirit of Samuel foretold the doom of King Saul. The Catholic Church condemns the practice
as evil.
Very elaborate rituals
can last for days. Necromantic rites involve the corpse or pieces of the corpse and the necromantic eat upon the flesh associated
with death.
Orbs:
Orbs have been debated for years if they are proof of paranormal activity.
Orbs are believed to be energy anomalies in the form of a round circle. Orbs are caught though the lens of the camera.
Ouija Board:
The official birth of the Ouija board occurred in 1892. The
board was said to be invented by an American name Elija J. Bond. The Ouija Board is a board that answers questions by the
individuals. The answers are given by the dead.
Ouija or talking board is a device used for talking with the
dead. The board can be bought or made by an individual. The board has to have a planchette as the moving part that the fingertips
are placed on the pointer or planchette. The pointer moves to various locations on the board to answer the question of the
player. Ouija board is very dangerous. Many stories of users have been terrifying. Spirits that respond are often demons waiting
to let them in your life to control you.
Our group believes that the Ouija Board is very dangerous.
Many spirits that come though the board are demons. Please, do not use an Ouija Board for any reason.
Out of body experiences:
Out of body experiences or astral projection is a phenomenon
in which the person feels apart of one’s self leaves the body and travel to distant locations.
Phantom hitchhiker:
Phantom hitchhiker or vanishing hitchhiker is usual a girl sometimes
in distress. This ghost legend is worldwide. Sometimes the girl is dressed in a white dress and she is soaking wet. She is
always hitchhiking on a lonely or out of the way road. A man picks up the girl and they discover that they are going in the
same direction. When the driver receives a paper from the girl, she informs him that her home address is on the papers. As
the man reviews the paper, he turns and looks and the girl has vanished. The man is confused. He decides to drive to the location
on the paper. The man rings the doorbell and a woman asks the door. The man explains the situation. The woman retrieves a
picture and the girl is the some image that the man saw. It is believed that the phantom was killed in an accident. The day
the girl appears this the date of when the accident occurred. Also, the girl leaves some clothing behind in the car. The most
famous case of a phantom hitchhiker is that of ‘Resurrection Mary’. The
cemetery that she is buried at is located in Chicago.
Phantom Monks:
Ghosts of Monks that haunt a religious site. In Akron, Ohio, Hoban Catholic High School is haunted by this phenomenon.

Ghostly ships that appear at the scene of a disaster. The legend
is universal.

Ghosts of human or animals
that haunt a route in search of someone or something.
Phantom Vehicles:
Ghostly vehicles which suddenly appear on a road traveling at
a very high speed. Phantom trains are reported world wide.
Phone Calls from
the Dead:
Most communication that is made dead occurs if during living
the receiver and the caller had very close ties. The phone call can be a farewell or message of warning.
Planchette:
A planchette is a device that is heart-shaped wooden or
plastic platform with three legs. The device is intended to be used as a communication tool between the living and the dead.
Poltergeist:
Poltergeist is German for ‘noisy ghost’. Poltergeist activity
has been reported and documented around the world. Reports of poltergeist activity dated back to ancient Roman times. Documented
cases have been found in medieval records in German. A poltergeist causes disturbances by throwing objects, terrible smells,
raps, screams and sexual assaults.
Possession:
Possession is the theory that a person’s mind and soul can be alternated
by a departed spirit, demon, or god.
Pseudopod:
Pseeudopod is ectoplasmic extrusion from a medium produced during a
séance. The extrusion can develop into a false hand or arm. Marthe Beraud was witnessed by German physician to excrete tentacles
of ectoplasm from her mouth, eyes, ears, nose. The tentacles often assumed faces or shapes.
Psychical Research:
Psychical research is also known as parapsychology. The research is a part
of science dealing with ESP, phychokinesis and the evidence that the consciousness survives death.
Psychokinesis:
The mind’s ability to affect the present external world. PK can occur
spontaneously or though an apparent projection of will. Since ancient times, the phenomenon has been recorded.
Radiant Boy;
The ghost of a boy who has been murdered by his mother. The appearance of the glowing
boy portends a violent death or ill luck. It is believed that radiant boy has originating in German folklore. The Kindermordrinn
children were murdered by their mother.
Rapping:
The
form of spirit communication include knocking, thumping, bumping or tapping associated with message.
Reincarnation:
The belief that the soul returns to a new body after death.
Residual Haunting:
A residual haunting is a term used to describe spirit energy
that is trapped in a loop. The ghost of the person completes an action over and over while in life, the energy performs the
same act in death. The residual haunting is not intelligent. An example of a residual haunting is if a person went to bed
at 9 o’clock every night, the imprint of the repeated action occurs after death.
Retrocognition:
To see into the past, to either experience or review events that
happened, and the person has no prior knowledge or to know information that is not part of memory. Retrocognition can be in
the form of a dream, reading a client, or a vision.
Revenant:
Revenant is the belief that the dead come back from the grave. All
civilizations have some history of the belief.
Saturday:
Saturday is the last day of the week or an end of the cycle. Some
believe that being born on a Saturday is unlucky. This belief is world wide. It was believe that a person born on a Saturday
can see ghosts. In Greek folklore, it was believed that a vampire could only be killed on a Saturday. It was believe that
Saturday was the only day a vampire slept in his or her grave.
Shaman:
A shaman is an individual who is very spiritual. The shaman acts a medium
between the visible world and the unseen world.
Simulcra:
Simulcra is the natural imprint on objects, such as rocks, doors and even potato
chips, in which faces and figures appear on the object.
Stigmata:
Stigmata is the phenomena that
marks appear on the body that are the same wounds that Jesus displayed on the cross. The wounds can not be explained by injury
or other means.
Screaming skulls:
Many of the so-called skulls once belonged to victims
of religious persecution. The victims of persecution all share the same deathbed wish. The wish is to be buried within the
walls of the house which they want to continue to live in spirit. Their spirit will not rest in peace unless their wish is
completed. When their wish is not honored and the victim is placed in a grave of vault, they protest by making noises.
Séance:
A séance is an organized sitting for the purpose of retrieving spirit
communication or manifestations. References to séance date back as far as the writings of Porphyry in the third century. During
the rise of ‘Spiritualism, séances were very common.
Silver:
In folklore, silver is a very powerful and magical. Silver’s power
may have to do with its associations with the moon. The silvery glow of silver and the moon is believed to have powers of
the Otherworld. In Chinese folklore, the moon is called the silver candle.
Silver items such as jewelry bullets, nails believed to have protection
properties against evil.
Sitter Group:
A group of individuals who
meet in order to produce paranormal or physical phenomena such as table- tilting is known as a sitter group. Kenneth Batcheldor,
an English psychologist, developed the concept of a sitter group in 1960’s.
Soul:
The soul is believed to be the life-force of an individual. A soul is
known as the individual’s core identity.
Spirit:
A spirit is the image of a decease individual. The spirit resides
in an invisible realm that can not be seen under regular circumstances. The invisible realm is thought to be a theory called
the ‘String Theory’.
Spirit Attachment:
A type of possession in which an entity becomes attached to
a living person. The attachment is believed to occur after a person dies. The spirit became earthbound due to emotional ties,
unfinished business or lack of awareness of death. The earthbound spirit is attracted to a human host who fills their needs.
Symptoms of attachment are a sudden change in behavior, dress, mood and speech. Sometimes victims are become depressed, suicidal
or exhibit multiple personality disorder. There is no formal training or certification for recognizing spirit attachment.
Spirit Photography:
Spirit photography is the catching of an image or images of
the dead. Spirit photography is very controversial. Many of the images can be explained by flaws on the film, flaws developing
the film, trick of light, and some pictures are hoaxes. During the Spiritualism Movement, many fraudulent pictures were accepted
as real. Many people just wanted to have a photograph of themselves with images of dead individuals. Many time, the images
found on the photos, were people every much alive. The photography was concerned a hoax. Because of the false photos, spirit
photography lost popularity for a period of time. With advance technology, spirit photograph is being practiced by many investigators.
Today, ghost photography is very high-technology equipment. There
is no explanation for how apparitions show up on film. One explanation is the spirit photography may be created unwittingly
by psychokinesis on the part of the photographer. About 90% of all spirit photographs can be explained naturally. The 10%
of spirit photographs can not be explained. The photographs of spirits are not scientific proof of ghost.
The most famous spirit photography that has been scientifically
declared unique is the ‘Brown Lady’ of Raynham Hall.
Spiritualism:
Spiritualism is the religious and social movement
that derived from spirit communication to support the survival after death. The official birth of Spiritualism is considered
to be 1848. The movement came to light when the Fox sisters of Hydesville, New York, become known for their rapping communications with spirits.
Spiritualist held the belief that the soul was a duplicated of the
physical body. Spiritualism rejected the belief of reincarnation. Spiritualism was not comfortable with Christianity. Many
Spiritualists believed in breaking away from Christianity. Others sought the endorsement of the Christian Church by following
beliefs in Christian contributions. Mediums were shunned by friends and even family members. Spiritualism gave women, who
were mediums, the means to take on new roles in society.

Survival after death occurs in every religion but, classical
Buddhism. Buddhism denies the existence of a soul. Survival after death is a belief that a spiritual part of a human being
survives the physical destruction of death.

the dead. In Gilbertown Alabama, more than 5,000 people from all over the nation gathered to witness a haunted and crying pecan tree.
This event occurred in 1981. The tree was in the yard of Mrs. Linnie. Mrs. Linnie reported to relatives that the tree was
making strange noises. Her relatives heard the strange sounds and soon a media frenzy developed. No explanation could be formally
concluded about the noises coming from the tree.
One explanation was that the tree stood on ancient Indian burial
site. Another explanation was that seals in subterranean sea were making the crying noises.
Trumpet:
Once used in Spiritualist séance, the cardboard and aluminum
trumpets help amplify the voices of the spirit.
Urban legend:
Urban legends are basically folklore. Some elements
of the urban legend are truth. There are many urban legends. Example of an urban legend is that alligators live in sewers.
Vampire:
Vampire or the undead. A vampire is a living corpse that has
resurrected and feeds off the blood of living humans. Every culture has story of vampires.
Vortex:
An anomaly that appears to be a funnel or a rope-like image. These images are thought
to be representing spirits or a gateway.
Wells:
In folklore, wells are believed to be passageways for the dead to
enter into our world. If there is a well beneath a house or a building, the property is believed to be haunted.
Water and water underground have supernatural beliefs. Water is
believed to have spiritually purifying values. Evil can not cross running water. Wells and springs are visited every year
by people for medicinal properties. Holy shrines are surrounding by water.
Whirlwinds:
In Native American beliefs, whirlwinds are associated with spirits
and evil.
White noise:
An electronic noise, of which, the intensity is the same frequency
with the band.
Windigo (or Wendigo):
In North American Indians, a windigo is a dangerous cannibalistic
being. The windigo search the forest for loss or helpless human beings to devour.
Witching Hour:
The time of night when spirits and other supernatural beings are most likely to be encountered by man. The phenomena
is thought to be at midnight, but the correct time is three o’clock in the morning. This is the hour which spirits and evil roam the earth. Christ was crucified at three o’clock in
the afternoon. Satan’s mockery of Jesus’ death is at three. It is also believed to be the hour when the “veil
between world’s is the thinnest.
Zombie:
In Vodoun (Voodoo), a zombie is a dead person restored to life by
a sorcerer. The zombie is a slave to it’s master.
The word zombie comes from the word ‘nzambi’ which
means the spirit of the dead.
